Most transfer rumours have centred on the midfield area, though, as Arteta continues his search for a new playmaker. Earlier in the window, the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt, Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen and Real Madrid’s Isco all appeared to be high on the list of targets.
However, it seems the club’s attentions have moved elsewhere. An approach for Norwich’s Emi Buendia has been mooted but the Argentine’s £40m asking price has reportedly put the Gunners off from making a bid.
With that being the case, it seems a short term loan is being considered instead, with Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard now looking like the most likely candidate to be brought in before the window closes.
