Arsenal’s January Transfer Window So Far: What You Need To Know

Arsenal have been working hard to improve their squad in January and, with just over a week to go before the transfer window shuts, we thought it would be best to summarise what’s been happening so far.

At the time of writing, no signings seem to be close as the club are working with limited financial resources but reliable journalists have claimed that removing the likes Mesut Ozil, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Sead Kolasinac from the wage bill could free up funds.

It’s likely that technical director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta are now working overtime to improve the squad so the Gunners can aim for a much better second half of the season.

The club are unlikely to be active in regards to reinforcing their backline, after the purchase of Gabriel from Lille in the summer, but Roma’s Roger Ibanez has been mentioned, with the Brazilian also attracting interest from Everton and Leicester.

In terms of outgoings, along with Sokratis’s contract termination, there has been talk of Shkodran Mustafi leaving before the end of the month, with Lazio said to be keen, while Kolasinac has already left on loan for Schalke.
