Two Arsenal Academy Stars Pictured In First Team Training As Arteta Runs The Rule Over Youngsters

Arsenal Under 21 stars Reuell Walters and Mauro Bandeira have been given the chance to train with the first team this week.

The teenagers were pictured on the training pitch at London Colney as Mikel Arteta’s side prepare for their game against West Ham on Sunday:

Walters has already been named on the bench for four senior matches this season, including the last three league fixtures, which demostrates how highly Arteta rates the player.

The defender is an England Under 19 international but he also has German citizenship. The 18-year-old is a right-back by trade, although he has also been deployed at centre-half.

Bandeira, meanwhile, was on the bench for the first leg of the Europa League last 16 tie against Sporting Lisbon and, like Walters, the teenager hasn’t made his senior debut yet.

The Portuguese moved from QPR in the summer of 1019 and he has progressed through the ranks at Hale End. The 19-year-old usually plays as a central midfield player.
