Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says the Gunners have laid down the gauntlet to Manchester City after their comeback win against West Ham on Boxing Day.
Henry believes the squad that manager Mikel Arteta has constructed should hold them in good stead as the London club look to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table:
“Now it is up to Man City to answer. Yes, we are here to stay. It is important to say we have a team. Arsenal fans have been waiting for a team to compete. Not one or two players, we have a squad. You win a title with a squad.”
Arsenal now have an eight-point gap between them and City. While that advantage may not last too long, with the reigning champions set to face Leeds on Wednesday evening, the victory versus the Hammers was still a big boost for Arteta’s men.
They hadn’t played competitively for the best part of six weeks and there were many questioning how they would cope without the injured Gabriel Jesus.
However, while the Gunners did have to battle back from a one-goal deficit, they fully deserved their win and they will be hoping to back it up when they face Brighton on Saturday.
