Arsenal are not expected to make an approach for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claim that the Serbian international is “no longer a priority” for the Gunners, despite having tracked him for several years.

Vlahovic snubbed a move to the Emirates when he opted to join Juve in the 2022 January transfer window but there have been constant reports since then that Mikel Arteta’s side have retained an interest in the forward.

The 24-year-old has been in good form this season, having scored 17 goals in all competitions, and his performances have prompted more speculation about his future, especially as he is closing on the final two years of his contract.

Negotiations over a new deal have not yet really got started, with it being suggested that Juventus are reluctant to commit to paying Vlahovic €12m a year after tax (roughly £197,000 a week) which he is due in his final two seasons.

An alternative to Vlahovic has been found

Calciomercato report the reason that Arsenal have cooled their interest in the Serbian is because they have identified a new target.

Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is now believed to be the London club’s number one priority, with the Swedish international having scored 41 goals this season; 24 more than Vlahovic.

It is still uncertain, though, whether the Gunners have the funds to secure Gyokeres’s signature. Sporting are said to be holding out for his €100m (£86m) release clause.

Will Arsenal consider other targets?

In addition to Gyokeres and Vlahovic, the club are believed to be keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian international is expected to be available for a lower price due to a buyout fee.

However, the 20-year-old is the least prolific out of the three options, having scored 16 times so far this campaign.
