The Arsenal Transfer Window So Far: What You Need To Know

Arsenal have been linked with so many players this summer and with the best part of six weeks still to go before the transfer window closes, we thought it would be best to summarise what’s been happening so far.

Head coach Mikel Arteta is looking to reshape his squad on a pretty limited budget but it does appear that progress has been made, with the club poised to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille for £27m.

The Gunners have been scouring Europe for a left-sided centre-back in recent weeks, with talk of a move for Villarreal’s Pau Torres, who has a £45m release clause, as well as Nice centre-back Malang Sarr, who is available on a free transfer.

It looks as though the London club have finally settled on Gabriel, beating the likes of Napoli and Manchester United to the Brazilian’s signature. The 22-year-old could now strike up an exciting young partnership with William Saliba in the centre of Arsenal’s defence.

With the arrival of Gabriel, though, it does seem that a number of centre-backs could be leaving. Both Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi have been linked with moves to Napoli, while Rob Holding is thought to be on Leeds’ radar. Calum Chambers has also been mentioned as a target for newly-promoted Fulham, who are looking to re-sign the defender who spent a year on loan at Craven Cottage.
