Arsenal have “increased their bid” for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes in order to ward off late interest from the likes of Napoli, according to the Guardian‘s Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable reporter claims Manchester United have not contacted Lille about signing the centre-back and with Napoli still waiting for funds from the sale of Kalidou Koulibaly, the Gunners are now very hopeful of getting the deal over the line:
Arsenal have increased their bid to Gabriel Magalhães tonight. They’re pushing to convince him because of Napoli still waiting for Koulibaly situation and Man Utd not in contact with Lille yet. Arsenal board is feeling now “confident” to sign the Brazilian CB. ⚪️? #Gabriel #AFC

It must be said that there has been a lot of contradictory information around the signing of Gabriel. One minute, United are trying to hijack the transfer and the next they are not even involved.
Other reports have suggested that the defender has had a medical at Arsenal. with a deal all but completed, but it’s probably best to just listen to Lille’s president Gerard Lopez. The Frenchman has confirmed the player is expected to make a decision this weekend so let’s just wait and see what happens.
