Sagna Could Stay At Arsenal

Sagna Could Stay At ArsenalAccording to the Standard, Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has dismissed speculation linking the Italian club with Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna, after the director was seen making trips to England in recent weeks.

Sagna is one player that has stuck through the trophy-less patch with Arsene Wenger since 2007. The right back has been consistent in his performances for the club, and has made 204 Barclays Premier League appearances, scoring 4 goals. However, having seen players like Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy leave, Sagna has grown frustrated with the situation at the Emirates Stadium. The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in the past two transfer windows, but has stayed having seen signings like Mesut Ozil arrive.

Inter and Paris Saint Germain are reportedly the clubs interested in Sagna, but the summer could tell a different tale. With Inter distancing themselves from the player, PSG are looking at Newcastle United full back Mathieu Debuchy for the right back spot. Carl Jenkinson has been deployed as the right back in Sagna’s absence, and the same would happen if Wenger is unable to replace Sagna in the summer. However, given Arsenal’s good form this season, the board will be receptive to giving transfer budgets to keep the acquisitions coming in if they are required and surely the cash is there to give Sagna a raise and a decent length contract.
