Arsenal legend David Seaman has urged his former club to sign Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer.
Seaman was speaking to his podcast co-host Lynsey Hooper, who recommended that the Gunners sign the Brazilian centre-back, when he replied:
“Get Murillo, if I could give you one tip this summer it would be to get Murillo. I love that Lynsey, I’ll tell him. Lynsey says, not Seaman says, Lynsey says Mr Arteta, go and get Murillo.”
Forest only signed Murillo from Corinthians for £15m last summer but he has been attracting a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs, including Mikel Arteta’s side.
Four Premier League team are pursuing the defender
It was reported by the Daily Mail back in March that Arsenal could be joined by Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle in the battle for the 21-year-old’s services.
Murillo does have a lot going for him. He is still very young but he has already shown that he is able to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.
Furthermore, the centre-half is left-footed, meaning he could be an ideal backup for Gabriel, which may need to be looked at if Jakub Kiwior leaves the Emirates in the coming months. The Polish international is attracting a lot of interest from Italian clubs.
Arsenal would have to pay a sizeable fee for Murillo
It is believed that Forest will be seeking in excess of £50m for the player, which is more than three times what they paid for him less than twelve months ago.
However, there are suggestions that the Midlands club are still under pressure to sell in order to stay in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
If Murillo becomes available for a more affordable price, the Gunners may be tempted into making a bid for the centre-back.
