Report Confirms Arsenal’s Interest In 53M Rated Wonderkid After Edu ‘Approached The Player’s Agent’

Arsenal are expected to fight it out with Barcelona, Chelsea and Newcastle for Athletico Paranaense striker Vitor Roque, according to Goal.

The website claims that Barca are the favourites for the 17-year-old’s signature, having already held talks with his club, but the Gunners are also in the frame with sporting director Edu having “approached the player’s agent”.

Athletico only signed Roque from Cruzeiro last April so they are reluctant to sell the forward and they have already told prospective buyers to pay the player’s release clause.

The buyout fee currently stands at €60m (£53m) so it will be a sizeable outlay on a teenager, who has made just 52 senior appearances in his career so far.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Roque, with many already comparing him to the Brazilian Ronaldo, and he has looked impressive playing for Brazil at the South American U20 Championships, scoring six goals in seven matches. We shall see who ends up winning the race for his services.
