Paul Merson Predicts The Scoreline As Arsenal Face Brentford

Paul Merson expects Arsenal to secure a narrow win when they face Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

Manager Mikel Arteta will want a reaction after the 1-0 defeat to Everton last weekend and Merson believes the Gunners will get the three points against the Bees:

“If you look at the form table, Brentford are on top at the moment. Arsenal played well at Brentford last time, and there’s still a lot of bitterness there from last season. This is going to be a hard game, but I’m backing Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table this weekend.”

Merson has gone with a 2-1 victory to the home side for his prediction, which seems fair, considering Brentford are a particularly difficult team to face currently.

They haven’t lost in the league since the 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa back in late October, which shows you what an excellent job Thomas Frank has been doing.

However, Arsenal are a formidable force at home, having only dropped two points from nine games, and that was a 0-0 draw against Newcastle who have only lost once this season.

It will be a tightly contested affair this weekend but the Gunners should have just enough to come out on top.
