Arsenal are in negotiations with Barcelona over a potential swap deal involving Matteo Guendouzi and Philippe Coutinho, according to reports in France.
It is believed that the Gunners are willing to listen to offers for their player, following his falling out with head coach Mikel Arteta, and it now appears they could well get the former Liverpool playmaker in exchange.
There has been a mixed reaction to the news among fans on Twitter:
Coutinho is declining badly…not sure about this deal tbh; except Coutinho reduces his wages

Yes if his wages is not too outrageous. We need an attacking midfielder in our team. Our midfield most of the times lack of creativity.

He might end up like Mezut tbh. After some brilliant years man has declined psychologically.

I’d take him especially given what the wizard @m8arteta can do to failing players plus Guendozzi is getting the Ozil treatment

Guendouzi has a future.
Coutinho is spent?— Miscreant ? (@akinkunle_) July 20, 2020

YESSIR…. Think coutinho will get his head down and grind for a revival of his career while guendouzi will be a pain for the likes of lionel messi with his attitude….

It is believed that technical director Edu is a big fan of Coutinho after working with him in his role with the Brazilian national team. With Kia Joorabchian also having close links with the Gunners hierarchy, it does seem there could be some legs in this rumour.
On the face of it, it does look like a pretty good deal, especially if there is no way back for Guendouzi under Arteta, but there will be some worries about Coutinho, considering his poor form since leaving the Premier League. A return to England could, though, reignite his career.
