Merson Makes His Prediction For Arsenal’s Clash Against Brighton

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson thinks the Gunners will scrape a win versus Brighton at the Amex this evening.

The TV pundit is expecting the game against the Seagulls to be a tough encounter, but he feels that a top-four finish is now a possibility after Chelsea dropped points against Leicester on Saturday.

Merson believes that will give his former club extra belief in the games coming up in the next few weeks:

“Arsenal will be buoyant after seeing Chelsea lose. Now all of a sudden, the top four is realistic and I think Arsenal will win this game 3-2.”

Manager Unai Emery has, however, suffered another injury setback with Henrikh Mkhitaryan having been ruled out for the next six weeks with a broken foot.

The Armenian had initially been ruled with an ankle problem but further scans revealed that the 29-year-old had broken a metatarsal.

It means the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are likely to be given more starts in the absence of the midfielder over the coming weeks.

The Brighton game will be quickly followed by a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday before a home match against Fulham next Tuesday.
