Journalist Reveals Arsenal Have Watched 113M La Liga Star “For A Long Time” Amid Reports He’s Now On The Market

Arsenal are long-term admirers of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, according to the Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Reports in the Portuguese media this week have claimed that the 22-year-old is unhappy with his lack of game time at Atletico and he will try to force through a move during the January transfer window. Brown says that the Gunners will be keeping track of the striker’s situation:

“Arsenal have, for a long time, looked at Joao Felix. I think he’s known very well to some of the hierarchy there, who are big fans and have been for quite a while.”

Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been suggested as potential destinations for Felix so Arsenal would have a battle on their hands if they wanted to secure the player’s signature in the New Year.

The cost of the deal would likely be extremely high as well. Atletico paid Benfica £113m for the Portuguese international just over three years ago so they won’t be willing to part ways with him unless they receive a substantial offer.

It is thought that the Gunners will be in the market for a forward when the transfer window reopens, although most feel that the London club will target a winger, such as Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk.
