Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out on Youri Tielemans’ future at the club, with the player seemingly no closer to leaving the King Power Stadium.
The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham have all been mentioned as potential suitors, but no club has stepped up their interest in the Belgian international, despite the player having less than twelve months to run on his contract.
When asked if the club would allow the midfielder to run down his current deal, Rodgers replied:
“I’m not sure. For that to happen that means there’s been no acceptable offer or there hasn’t been an offer. That’s the reality. From Youri’s perspective, he’ll continue to train and work. He’s very focused on getting himself fit and like he always is with the team, he’s a great guy to have in the squad.”
It seems clear that the Gunners are not actively pursuing Tielemans at the moment, despite Leicester seemingly being keen to offload him, and fans on Twitter are rather perplexed by the whole situation:
It’s a negotiation strategy Edu is pulling! Putting down the “They need to sell him more than we need to buy him” card

Not sure i can see Tielemans coming on without Xhaka going out, and there are no signs of that right now

Don’t think it’s happening anymore if I’m being honest. How we go for Neto

no, Arsenal clearly just see him as an option of last resort, otherwise they would have signed him by now. It’s not like he’s expensive now either. Plus Zinchenko can also play that left CM role.

What are arsenal doing?

After watching Xhaka playing yesterday it baffles me how we haven’t put in a bid yet. I’m sick of this club acting like they have elite midfielders at the club

You do get the feeling that Arsenal may have gone off the idea of recruiting the 25-year-old. Whether they will be tempted to return with a bid later in the transfer window, we shall have to wait and see.
