BBC presenter Gary Lineker says he expects Arsenal to be winning trophies again “in the not-too-distant future” under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta.
The former England international has paid tribute to the “brilliant job” that Arteta has done at the Emirates and, even if the Gunners don’t win the title this season, he predicts they will be consistently competing for honours regardless:
Arsenal will probably come up a little short, but they’ve made serious progress in the last couple of years. Arteta has done a brilliant job and this team will be winning trophies in the not too distant future.

After Sunday’s win over Newcastle, Arsenal have now accumulated 81 points from 35 games, which is the most they have had at this stage since the ‘Invincibles’ season in 2003/04.
If they do secure victory in their final three fixtures, they will also match the points total (9o) of that legendary team, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to finish top.
Manchester City will probably only need eight points from their final four matches to win the title, due to their superior goal difference, so the Gunners’ chances of winning the league are rather remote currently, but Lineker feels this young team has a great future ahead of them.
