“If We Sell Him…” Club Sporting Director Delivers Transfer Update After Arsenal Are Linked With 26M Rated Teenager

Real Valladolid sporting director Fran Sanchez says the La Liga club have not received a “formal” bid for right-back Ivan Fresneda.

Arsenal are believed to be one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in the teenager, along with the likes of Newcastle, Everton and Leeds, but Sanchez says the defender will only be sold for the right price:

“He is a boy with incredible maturity and on the pitch. He is proving himself to be a first division player. At the moment, nothing has arrived. Yes, there are many rumours about teams that are following him, and that some of those are true. But, so far, we have not had any formal offer. The most important thing is that he continues on this path of humility, work and learning day by day. If we sell him or not, it depends on the offer.”

Fresneda is believed to have a €30m (£26m) release clause but, considering he has only played nine senior games, it would be a surprise if the Gunners tabled an offer anywhere close to that amount.

Manager Mikel Arteta is not exactly short of options on the right-hand side of defence either. Ben White has established himself as a regular starter in that position this season, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares can also play the role.

Fresneda is likely being eyed as one for the future so we shall have to wait and see whether Arsenal make an approach for the 18-year-old next month.
