Arsenal Line Up Move For 26M Rated Defender Who Is ‘One Of The Biggest Prospects In European Football’

Arsenal are among a host of teams interested in signing Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda, according to AS.

The Madrid-based publication claims that the Gunners are one of nine Premier League clubs pursuing the 18-year-old who is “one of the biggest prospects in European football”.

Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Southampton and Wolves are also weighing up bids for Fresneda, who has a €30m (£26m) release clause.

However, teams are being pressured to move quickly as the fullback’s buyout fee will increase to €45m (£39m) if he plays 22 senior games. So far, he has made nine appearances but he will likely reach the required number before the end of the season.

Getting a deal in place for Fresneda during the January transfer window is, therefore, key. AS don’t say who has tabled bids so far but they claim that Real Valladolid have already received proposals in the region of €15m (£13m). We shall have to wait and see whether Arsenal make a concerted effort to snap up the teenager.
