Ian Wright Makes His Arsenal V Liverpool Prediction

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he is “confident” that his former club can win versus Liverpool this weekend and turn their poor recent record at Anfield on its head.

The Gunners have not won away from home against the Reds in over a decade but Wright believes that, if Mikel Arteta’s side play with the right mentality and display the sort of form that they have shown recently, they should get a result:

“I think Arsenal can do it, I’m confident Arsenal can do it. It’s so exciting. I can already feel the buzz around that game. With what’s going on at Liverpool, it’s the time to attack them and get them to answer some questions.”

“I know we’re going to have a period in that game where if Liverpool are not at it, we’re probably going to score a couple of goals. That’s what I’m excited about. I like our mentality and we’ve got to go there and do what we’ve been doing over the past month or so.”

Wright is correct to say that Arteta’s men should be hopeful heading into Sunday’s game. Liverpool are at a low ebb confidence-wise and, while they did draw 0-0 against Chelsea midweek, their 4-1 loss to Manchester City last Saturday will still be playing on their minds.

It was a team lacking energy and motivation, and you would hope that Arsenal can exploit the situation. As Manchester United can attest, though, Anfield is still a difficult place to go so it’s important that the Gunners go into the game ready for a battle, giving themselves the best chance of securing the three points.
