CONFIRMED: Arsenal Still In For Lacazette

Arsenal remain interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon and are expected to make a second bid to sign the player this week.

Various news outlets, including Sky Sports, believe that Wenger is determined to wrap up the signature of a new striker this summer and that the club will do all they can to sign Lacazette for a reasonable fee.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed he did not expect Arsenal to return with an improved offer on the £30m bid they already placed for the 25-year-old, but it now seems that the north London club will try again.

Lacazette has been prolific in the last 2 seasons for Lyon, scoring 48 league goals. The striker is valued at a whopping £40m, but Arsenal are not understood to be willing to spend that much on the player.

Aulas has also repeatedly stressed that he believes the striker will remain at the club this summer and will play for the side next season.

Arsenal have signed three players so far this summer in forward Tasumo Akano, midfielder Granit Xhaka and central defender Rob Holding. However it is still clear the side need to sign a class striker and add another defensive option to cover for the injured Per Mertesacker.

Whether or not Arsenal will give in to Lyon’s demands and pay the full £40m remains to be seen, but the club could certainly do with a striker of Lacazette’s quality – so it might pay off for the club to just pay the fee.
