‘Ridiculous’ ‘That Amount Is Too Much’ Arsenal Fans React As Ornstein Confirms Target’s £80M Price Tag

Wolves are demanding £80m for Arsenal target Pedro Neto, according to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein.

Speaking in a Q&A, the trusted journalist said that the Gunners are one of five Premier League clubs who are “admirers” of the Portuguese winger but he won’t be available on the cheap:

“The first thing to say is there’s no guarantee he will leave Wolverhampton Wanderers. He’s under contract until 2027 and the club are on course for a much higher finish than they would have budgeted for, strengthening their footballing and financial outlook. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United (perhaps Manchester United, too, with Dan Ashworth moving there from Newcastle) are all admirers of the Portugal international, although they may harbour some reservations about his fitness record.”

“It would also take around £80million ($100m) for Wolves to part with Neto and that is another obstacle. There has been no concrete movement before the summer, so it’s impossible to say where he is most likely to end up.”

Fans on X would much rather Arsenal pursue alternative targets to Neto if Wolves hold firm on their current asking price:

Who could Arsenal sign instead of Neto?

Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams has also been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks. The Spanish international is said to have a €50m (£43m) release clause which would make him a cheaper alternative.

Reports in the Italian media in recent days have also claimed that the Gunners are looking at Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, there is a good chance that the Georgian would cost just as much or even slightly more than Neto.
