Arsenal ‘Thinking’ About Swoop For Serie A Speedster Who Has Been Described As “Magnificent” By Thierry Henry

Arsenal are weighing up a summer bid for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that both the Gunners and Newcastle are “thinking” about making an approach for the Georgian international.

Kvaratskhelia is said to be unsettled at the reigning Serie A champions. Despite being one of the club’s best players, he is one of the lowest-paid.

After joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in the summer of 2022, he made a massive impression during his first season. He was expected to be rewarded for his performances with a salary increase but negotiations over a contract extension have stalled.

De Laurentiis’s stance on selling Kvaratskhelia

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a notoriously tough negotiator but Calciomercato claim he is open to selling the winger “if the right offer arrives”.

The club have missed out on a lot of money in the past by holding onto players for too long and De Laurentiis is said to be keen to avoid repeating those mistakes.

The Georgian has earned praise from an Arsenal legend

When Kvaratskhelia first made his breakthrough with Napoli during the 2022/23 season, ex-Arsenal forward Thierry Henry said the player was “magnificent” while he described his skills as “contagious.”

Fellow pundit Jonathan Woodgate agreed, and he made a prediction at the time that Kvaratskhelia would eventually end up moving to England:

“His pace, his power, he wants to beat his man. He’s another one who you can see going to the Premier League in the next few years. He’s been absolutely magnificent.”

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make an offer for Kvaratskhelia. He is unlikely to be available on the cheap and it will be up to manager Mikel Arteta whether he feels that recruiting a wide player is more important than signing a new No.9.
