Journalist Reveals That Arsenal Are “Interested” In Brazilian U17 International Who Has Played 1 Senior Game

Arsenal are “interested” in signing Fluminense striker Kaua Elias, according to journalist Thiago Ferreira.

The Brazilian reporter has revealed that Gunners sporting director Edu is pursuing at least two players from Fluminense, one of which is midfielder Andre Trindade and the other being Elias:

It’s not surprising that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Elias, in particular. He has looked impressive playing for Brazil‘s Under 17s since making his debut at the South American Championships earlier this year.

At the tournament, the teenager scored 2 goals on his debut against Ecuador, before following it up with another brace versus Chile.

In total, Elias bagged 5 goals in 7 appearances during the Under 17 Championships, which would have caught the attention of Edu and his South American scouts.

How has Elias been performing for his club?

The forward has very limited experience at senior level. He made his first-team debut for Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores back in May.

Elias came on for the final 10 minutes of a group game against Bolivian side The Strongest, with his team losing the match 1-0.

However, the Brazilian has not played for his club since making his first appearance, having not made the matchday squad in the league or cup.

Edu’s strong Brazilian connections could help Arsenal

The Gunners’ sporting director does have good contacts in his homeland so you do expect that these claims from Ferreira are accurate.

It could mean that bids for both Elias and Andre are in the works, and there is a decent chance they could secure their signatures.
