Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is interested in joining Arsenal, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Gunners are said to have already held talks about signing the Belgian international and Tavolieri claims the player would be open to a switch to the Emirates:
🇧🇪 Talks intensive currently ongoing between #EvertonFC & #ArsenalFC for Amadou Onana. The Belgian midfielder’s – who has always put his priority to stay in Premier League – keen on the move.
Things could develop quickly…

There is a long way to go before a move for Onana becomes a serious possibility. The main stumbling block will be the asking price.
It is believed that Everton would want at least £50m for the 22-year-old, and the Gunners may only be able to afford this by selling a player first or proposing a loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Everton’s financial situation could help Arsenal
The Toffees are being propped up by prospective new owners 777 partners who recently injected another $50m to help with the club’s running costs.
With the Merseysiders not being in the best shape financially, it may lead to Onana being offloaded for below his market price.
There will be competition for Onana
The Gunners are not the only team that have been credited with an interest in the Belgian over recent months. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have also been tracking the player.
However, those two clubs have other priorities for the January transfer window, and it does appear that Arsenal will get a free run to secure Onana’s signature this month if they can come up with the necessary funds.
That is still a big ‘if at this stage but this is a transfer story to keep a close eye on over the coming days.
