Arsenal will have to match Paris Saint-Germain’s €20m (£17m) asking price if they want to secure a deal for Christopher Nkunku, according to reports in England.
The Gunners tried to sign the midfielder on loan during the January transfer window but the Ligue One side would not let the 21-year-old leave.
Nkunku has been playing regularly for PSG under manager Thomas Tuchel in recent weeks, having started eight of their last 12 league games.
The France Under 21 international has, however, refused to sign a new contract, and with the player’s current deal expiring in 2020, PSG may reluctantly let him leave.
Nkunku’s ability to play out wide or through the middle would make him a good player to have in the squad. He is also capable in front of goal with 11 goals in his 77 appearances for PSG.
The promising midfielder wouldn’t be a like-for-like replacement for Aaron Ramsey, but would certainly add creativity and attacking flair that could mitigate the Welshman’s departure in the summer.
