Arsenal Target ‘Would Prefer To Stay’ In Holland Despite Talks Being Held Over £23m Transfer

Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu “would prefer to stay” at his current club, according to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam. The 19-year-old has been linked with a £23m move to the Emirates in recent days.

The magazine’s Feyenoord correspondent also revealed that Sevilla have held talks about the player, along with the Gunners, but the Turkish Under 21 international would like to remain in the Netherlands:

“Not only is Arsenal an option. They have been to Rotterdam, but Sevilla has also been to Rotterdam to talk to him and try to get him to Spain. He would prefer to stay at Feyenoord.”

Kokcu only signed a new deal with Feyenoord in March last year, but there a number of young players at the Eredivisie side who have been left unhappy by the wages that summer signing Liam Kelly was given.

The former Republic of Ireland Under 21 star arrived from Reading in July, and it is believed his wages far outstrip what other more established players are earning at Feyenoord, despite the 24-year-old being loaned out to Oxford United in January after just six months with the Dutch club.
