Gabriel was initially called up by Brazil for their matches against England and Spain but, like Saka, he withdrew as a precautionary measure.

The defender is believed to have a sore Achilles tendon so it is hoped that the issue will have cleared up before the City game.

It should be noted that the nature of the injury may not prevent Gabriel from playing but it could be something that could flare up again in the future.

For now, it seems like the Brazilian is winning his fitness battle ahead of Sunday’s fixture at the Etihad.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 31st March v Manchester City
