TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has criticised the recent form of Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian once again struggled to make an impact during the 1-1 draw against Brentford at the weekend and Agbonlahor says the Gunners need players like Martinelli to stand up and be counted during this difficult period:

“Players have got to turn up. Martinelli has not been the same the last few weeks.”

Martinelli has now gone seven games in all competitions without getting on the scoresheet. His last goal came in the 4-2 win over Brighton on New Year’s Eve.

Considering Leandro Trossard replaced him on Saturday and scored the opening goal, you do suspect that Martinelli’s place is under threat ahead of Wednesday’s huge clash against Manchester City.

There is a suggestion that the 21-year-old is missing the link-up with the injured Gabriel Jesus but his drop in performances have been more to do with his lack of end product, typified by the spectacular volley that he somewhat miscued against Brentford. If the Gunners want to remain title contenders, they will need Martinelli to get back to his best very soon.
