Arsenal Set To Seal Deal For Spanish International After Agreeing £1.73m Loan Fee

Arsenal are poised to sign Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez on loan for the rest of the season, according to reports in the Catalan media.

The Gunners will pay a €2m (£1.73m) loan fee to secure the services of the Spanish international.

Suarez has signed a one-year contract extension at Barca, but his move to the Emirates does include an option buy in the summer.

The purchase clause had proven a major stumbling in negotiations between the two clubs but Suarez’s new deal means that if Arsenal don’t buy the player, he will return to the Camp Nou with two years to go on his contract.

That is crucial for Barcelona as they reportedly received permanent offers from Real Betis and Sevilla of between €15m and €20m for the 25-year-old.

However, Suarez has been insisting on a move to the Gunners, and this means if the London club don’t buy him outright at the end of the season, Barca can still sell him for a decent fee.
