The agent of Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron has confirmed that “two or three” clubs are interested in signing the Paraguayan international.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with Arsenal in recent months, but the player’s representative Daniel Campos was spotted at Newcastle’s game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Speaking about his visit, Campos confirmed the Magpies’ interest in the 24-year-old but also suggested other teams are involved:
“We saw Newcastle’s party because we are in England. There are two or three clubs interested and we have been working in the UK.”
The Gunners and London rivals Tottenham are believed to be the two other clubs keen on signing Almiron.
Atlanta are into the MLS Conference Finals after defeating New York City last week. Almiron scored in the 3-1 second leg win on Sunday and he has been integral to his club’s success.
So far this campaign, he has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 league games. Once the MLS season ends in December, he could be on his way to England in the January transfer window.
