Wright Speaks Out On What’s Worrying Him About Aubameyang’s Contract Situation At Arsenal

Arsenal legend Ian Wright is concerned that Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may not decide to sign a new contract at the Emirates.

The Gabonese international is closing in on the last 12 months of his current deal with the Gunners, but with the player turning 31 in June, Wright says the player will know his next contract will be last big one he signs:

“We’re talking about the last big contract in his career. I just hope that the love that he has for the club and the fans have for him is enough for him but I wouldn’t want to be in his position because it’s a tough one for him.”

Aubameyang has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan in recent months, and the worry is that Arsenal will be forced to sell their talisman to prevent him from leaving for nothing at the end of next season.

Wright describes the Gunners star as a “world class” player and with his undoubted goalscoring abilities, there will be no shortage of suitors in the summer.

It means there is a lot riding on the contract talks, which manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed he wants to get underway as soon as possible. Fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that there is a successful conclusion.
