Wright Raises Major Concern About Arsenal Ace Who Has Begun Second Guessing Himself

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he is worried about Alexandre Lacazette’s form in front of goal following another missed chance in the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Frenchman has not scored since September and Wright believes the striker is now overthinking when he is given a shooting opportunity, rather than playing on instinct:

“I saw some stats about Lacazette’s average position. For a focal point, he’s not near it. With the chance he had, for me, even with no one in the ground, you could see he’s going through that spell as a forward. here he’s thinking about his next chance.”

“He’s actually thinking about it. I’ve seen him do a couple of headers now where you can tell he’s thinking about it. He’s thinking about it. Where that ball came in, you don’t need to think about it, you just need to get it on target. Just control it.”

As we have mentioned in an article this week, it is not simply the case that Arsenal’s forwards are misfiring. They are barely getting any shots away on goal, and it means the chances they are getting are all the more important.

With Lacazette fluffing his lines, his misses come into even sharper focus, and it remains to be seen whether manager Mikel Arteta will persist with him or opt to move captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang into more central areas.

It will be interesting to see whether the 29-year-old makes the starting line up when the Gunners face Leeds after the international break.
