Winterburn Warns Arsenal Against Move For Injury Prone Liverpool Star

Former Arsenal full-back Nigel Winterburn has cautioned the Gunners against making a move for Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana in the summer.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates when his contract runs out at the end of the season, with Leicester, Tottenham and West Ham also believed to be interested in the player.

However, Winterburn feels that Lallana is simply too injury prone to be worth the risk:

“Lallana is a player I like but he has had so many injuries problems. When you’re looking to bring players in for the first team or even the squad, you have to be careful.”

Lallana will be available on a free transfer so it wouldn’t be as big a gamble as Winterburn is suggesting, but bringing in a player on big wages who doesn’t play half the games due to fitness problems would certainly be a major concern.

The England international has, though, stayed fit for the majority of this season, but his game time has still been severely restricted, with just seven starts in all competitions, and 19 appearances in total for Liverpool.
