Wilshere Out For The Entire Season?

It seems that the first estimates given by the medical staff when it comes to serious injuries was not spot on for Wilshere either. After Sanchez and Welbeck were expected to return sooner, it`s now Wilshere’s turn to delay his comeback. This may point towards two things: either the managerial staff is giving early comeback dates in order not to worry fans or the medical staff has a hard time estimating recovery time for the players. Regardless of the response, it is still sad to see that almost none of the injured players are coming back when expected.

According to the Daily Mail, Wilshere is the latest name on the delayed list as his recovery is pushed for early March. You could say that this season is a bust for the England international who has not been able to play for Arsenal since the pre-season program. Wenger admitted that the midfielder’s return is not set in stone meaning that he might not be available for the Gunners by the end of the 2015-2016 Premier League. This looks like it will turn into Wilshere’s second major injury after the ankle problem that has sidelined him on and off since 2011.

The future does not look good for this 23-year-old who apparently has an unfortunate propensity for injury. His presence is missed and will be missed if Wenger will be forced to continue using Flamini. Until February that looks like the only option as all the other midfielders are bound to return during the last month of winter. The domestic competitions could carry on for Arsenal up until the middle of May but there is little hope that any of the first eleven players will be at 100% during that time. If no transfers are going to be made this January Wenger will have to deal with some difficult decisions and even though it is not the first time he is in this situation, this time it could actually cost him the title. Arsenal has a good chance of winning the Premier League but fatigue and form will play a massive role during the final fixtures.
