Who Is Lino Sousa? The Arsenal Teenager Who Will Be In the Squad To Face FC Zurich

Arsenal defender Lino Sousa has been training with the first-team squad this week and he will be in the travelling party for the game against FC Zurich this evening.

The 17-year-old is a left-back by trade and, while he does have Brazilian ancestry, he has chosen to play for England at youth level so far.

Sousa only joined the Gunners from West Brom back in January but he has made a strong impression playing for the club’s Under 21s, with the defender having completed the full 90 minutes in all five Premier League 2 fixtures.

At the end of last month, he got his first taste of facing a senior team in the EFL Trophy, helping the Under 21s secure an impressive 2-0 win over League One side Cambridge United.

Sousa is an attack-minded fullback and he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, although he still has a lot to learn in terms of his defensive responsibilities. We shall see if manager Mikel Arteta hands the teenager his first-team debut tonight.
