Tottenham were awarded a controversial penalty during the North London derby against Arsenal on Saturday.
Harry Kane looked to be offside when a free-kick was delivered into the box. He was subsequently knocked to the ground by Shkodran Mustafi that led to referee Anthony Taylor giving the spot kick.
Supporters on Twitter have since been questioning the position of the linesman who didn’t spot Kane:
Please, what was he looking at if he could not flag off there? I guess he’s spur fan

i reckon… from that line of site you can see four white shirts all in behind red ones… you could even say “in our shadows”

The officiating was unacceptable

Poor decision awarding Spurs the goal but then the Ref would feel he did gave Arsenal the chance to win the game at the depth of time.

The officiating couldn’t be any better, mate! I give the referee a pass mark. He wasn’t at fault for the incident that led to @SpursOfficial goal, instead blame it on the linesman. VRA to come in next season… Poor decision making from Emery though.

VAR will certainly improve things when it is introduced next season, but it must be said the Gunners had a perfect opportunity to win the game with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s late penalty.
The Gabon international made a poor connection with his strike, allowing Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris to save his shot.
There was more controversy, though, with defender Toby Alderweireld having clearly encroached into the box before the penalty had been taken; giving the Belgian international a distinct advantage in making a last-ditch clearance for the rebound.
