Wenger Unhappy With Referee Rizzoli

It could have been an amazing match if not for Nicola Rizzoli’s harsh decision to send off Szczesny after a foul on Arjen Robben. It looked more of an effort to balance things out after giving Arsenal a penalty which might have been overlooked if the game were part of the Premier League competition. The game was pretty much over after the Gunners’ goalkeeper was sent off, thus explaining Wenger’s frustration with the Italian official.

According to Yahoo! Eurosport, the Frenchman is convinced Rizzoli killed the game and that he made a decision based on his Serie A experience. It is a well-known fact that the Premier League has a more aggressive take on football than the rest of Europe which sometimes may end up costing teams like Arsenal.

Wenger was clearly unhappy with Robben too who according to Arsenal’s boss, exaggerated the actual intensity of the impact. He also pointed out the fact that most challenges would have not been penalised if the game was part of a domestic competition such as the FA Cup or the Premier League.

Despite losing to Bayern, there is still hope for the Gunners. Arsenal, who are a much stronger outfit now, managed to defeat the German side last year when playing in Munich.

Gooners still have a chance of seeing their team advancing to the next stage of the Champions League. Wenger’s players dominated the first minutes of the game and could have taken the outcome of the game in a whole different direction if Ozil had scored.
