Wenger talks transfers as January window looms

Arsene Wenger has admitted that Jack Wilshere’s proposed new deal at the club has financial considerations which are key to the discussions.

The England midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, and it was thought that he could look for a move away having not played as much in the league as he would’ve liked.

But he has impressed when he’s been called upon, and both parties look like they want the new contact sorted.

When asked about any updates on the midfielder’s future, Wenger said: “We will sit down with him.”

“I believe if he can meet a point of agreement financially, he will want to stay.”

Wenger also gave an insight into the club’s January transfer window, saying he expects to be busy as he is open-minded about signings.

“I will be busy yes because first of all you have clubs who call you to get players on loan or to buy your players,” the Frenchman said.

“I am open-minded on any possibility to strengthen our team.”

Finally, Wenger revealed that there has been no movement on the future of Alexis Sanchez, who is a big target of Manchester City’s.

“No, honestly, no. We have not been approached and I stick to what I said before.”
