Wenger Looking To Sign At Least One Of Five German Players Available This January

Arsenal’s needs can be fulfilled by signing at least two out of five possible German players available on the market. According to Metro, Wenger is looking to put together some reinforcements for the entire team by bringing in some of the most promising and also some of the most reliable defensive players out there.

The first on the Frenchman’s list is Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels. Arsenal have been negotiating a transfer with the German side but seem to have hit a brick wall when it comes to money. Despite being one of the most appreciated central defenders in the world, the price tag set for Hummels is a bit over the limit in terms of what Wenger would pay for a defender. Valued at about £25million, the German International has a very small chance of making it to the Emirates.

The second name on the list is Benedikt Howedes. Even though he might look like a cheaper version of Mats Hummels, Schalke’s defender is still an option to patch the gaps in Arsenal’s defense.

When it comes to defensive midfielders, Wenger will have to make up his mind quickly as all the players targeted by the Frenchman seem to be on the move. The most serious player on the list is Khedira who should have come to the Emirates this summer but again, money came between him and Arsenal. If a last assault on the World Cup winner fails, the Gunners could pick one of two Bender brothers who have the same profile and could easily take the spot of Arteta or Flamini.
