Wenger: I Want Sagna To Stay!

Arsene Wenger has not only dictated his future at the club next season, but has also suggested that he would like Bacary Sagna to stay on at the club according to a report in Metro.

Sagna has been the regular right back for the club since he joined from Auxerre for a fee in the region of £8 million. The French international has played 212 matches for Arsenal over the span of 6 seasons. He was part of the iconic Arsenal team that consisted of players like Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas. However, all three players have since left the club for greener pastures, with all three winning major domestic honors for their new clubs and this has probably prompted Sagna to seek glory elsewhere.

Arsenal have not won a trophy for nearly a decade, and the experienced players are gradually realizing they do not have many years left to play. At the age of 31, Sagna has only a few quality years left in him before he starts to show signs of age. PSG have shown concrete interest in his services, with the player’s nationality helping the cause of a possible transfer.

However, Wenger’s intentions of keeping Sagna will come as good news to the supporters, who want the manager and the player to stay beyond the current campaign.
