Wenger Begins Chase For Italian Midfielder

According to Metro, Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has revealed indirect contact from Arsenal regarding a summer move to the Emirates Stadium, but has insisted that any communication about a move must happen first with the Italian club directly.

Arsenal have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after their 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. Now, the focus for the Gunners will entirely shift to the Barclays Premier League title chase, where the side will need to win all their remaining matches to stand a chance to win the league after nearly a decade. Arsene Wenger will try to remove the memory of their ousting from the competition, and ensure the squad focus on getting results in the league. The squad will have to do without Mesut Ozil for at least the next month, after the German picked up a hamstring injury at the Allianz Arena.

Considering their impressive progress this season, Wenger will surely make major moves in the summer window to ensure the squad depth only gets better for next season and builds on the success of this season where hopefully they secure the FA Cup and if things go their way maybe even the Premier League – ok this might be a stretch but Chelsea did just lose to Aston Villa so anything can still happen. Marchisio has nearly three seasons left on his current contract, but could move if the two clubs can come to common ground on a transfer.
