Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi continues to show very promising signs in his development as a footballer, and he demonstrated his ability once again when playing for France’s Under 21s last week.
Despite being cornered by a number of Azerbaijan defenders in the 5-0 win last Thursday, the 20-year-old used his strength to outmuscle his opponents, as well as his quick feet, to get out of trouble:

The fact that he’s only 20 is what surprises me every time. Like he’s young and he takes games into his own hands. He won our player of the month even though Auba won for the premier league. He’s special.

The Frenchman has started every single league game for the Gunners so far this season, and his progression as a player over the past year has certainly merited the club’s decision to sign him from Ligue Two side Lorient.
Guendouzi’s £7m switch from the French second division is looking like an absolute bargain and credit has to be given to Arsenal’s scouting department.
The midfielder has deservedly made it onto the final 20-man shortlist for the European Golden Boy award. Fans can nominate him for the prize by heading here to vote.
