“Very Interested…” Romano Expects Arsenal To Revive Move For 21 Year Old Despite Having £70M Bid Turned Down

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo remains a key transfer target for Arsenal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Despite having an offer of £70m rejected for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window, Romano has said the Gunners are expected to reignite their interest this summer:

“Caicedo is expected to leave in the summer… Arsenal are still there, Arsenal are very interested in Caicedo. He is one of the midfielders they are still monitoring… this is still a possibility. Let’s also see what happens with Liverpool and Chelsea because they are looking for players in that position.”

As Romano mentions, there will be plenty of competition for the Ecuadorian international’s services at the end of the season. Even though the player only signed a new four and a half year contract at the beginning of March, it is believed that the agreement was signed so Caicedo could increase his salary.

Of course, it also strengthens Brighton’s position in negotiations if Arsenal were to re-enter talks about signing the midfielder in the coming months. Reports suggest that Caicedo could cost at least £85m, and the Seagulls may ask for as much as £100m if other teams also enter the race for his signature.
