Troy Deeney, Etienne Capoue Or Benedikt Howedes?

Troy Deeney, Etienne Capoue Or Benedikt Howedes?

Not to offend but it would be a bit disappointing to see any of the three move to Emirates right now. Sure, Capoue was very promising a couple of years back when he peaked at Toulouse but got lost along the way since joining the Premier League. And yes, Deeney is in great form and has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists this season but this is where he will peak probably. Last, there’s Howedes, who is a World Cup winner with almost 300 games for Schalke but will not be a suitable replacement for either Mertesacker or Koscielny.

These three are the latest players linked to Arsenal in an endless line of rumors, some of which might point to interesting things – see Aubameyang’s transfer. Unfortunately, (or may be not) none of the above will join the Gunners. The only thing that they have going and would be mildly related to what Arsenal need is their age and experience in some cases.

Howedes has a lot of experience but lacks the physique. When I say physique I mean fitness. He has spent so much time recovering from injury that there is no doubt he will pick up an injury in the Premier League. Only last year he had an ankle fracture, a ruptured ligament, a tear in his joint capsule and a tendon crack. Add to that torn muscles, calf problems and fractures and you get a player who is exactly to opposite of what Wenger needs. Consistency is not gained by signing players who have fragile physiques.

Capoue just left Spurs to join Watford. The fact that he did not have what it takes to stand out for Tottenham is more than likely an indicator that he will not have any chance at Emirates. He is somewhat consistent, he did manage good games and has experience in the Premier League but why waste money and not save for let’s say, Toni Kroos, William Carvalho or even Axel Witsel.

Deeney has grown a lot but why would Arsenal sign a player who put his career on break and just started scoring now when he is 27. No disrespect but what difference is there between him and Campbell? Why sign Deeney and not extend the Costa Rican’s deal?

Hopefully Arsenal will make some transfers, transfers that will have a serious impact on the team. A positive impact that is.
