Tottenham Vs Arsenal – Match Review

Arsenal and Tottenham put on quite a show this Saturday. Despite heavy rain hitting the second part of the game, fans had no reason to leave early as both sides gave it their all in order to stay in the title race which is tighter than ever. Spurs started off stronger but soon lost their pace just 30 minutes into the game. The Gunners pushed forward and scored one of the best goals of the season. Bellerin provided his first assist of the game which found Ramsey down the middle of the goal. The Welshman managed to find the net with an exquisite finish that will surely be part of the end-season montage. The second half was not something you would want to miss. Coquelin got sent off, Spurs scored twice in a matter of minutes and Bellerin provided his second assist to Sanchez who got the equalizer. Ospina saved some impossible shots and Arsenal missed two good chances to win a game that could have gone either way despite the fact that the Gunners were one man short.

What is there to say after such a game? There is a lot to think about actually and it`s not related to Arsenal’s title hopes. First there’s Ospina. Wenger needs to find a way to keep this guy around. He is the perfect substitute as seen today. He was on the same level as Cech and with a bit more luck could have saved Arsenal from conceding the first goal. There’s also Bellerin and Ramsey who surely represent this team’s future. Sanchez is worth mentioning as well even though as he showed his early season form again after recovering from his hamstring injury.

Then there are Gibbs and Gabriel. Sorry to say this but Gibbs is probably just as responsible for this result as Coquelin. The Frenchman showed lack of experience while Gibbs showed that being on the bench for so long has affected the quality of his game. He missed the offside for the second goal and he seemingly lacked confidence. Monreal has no reason to worry about competition which is not a particularly good thing. Gabriel could have done a lot more when it comes to both goals. He was quite close to scoring an own goal as well. Compared to Koscielny, Gabriel is not even close in terms of quality yet but he will improve as he is still quite young.

One more thing – Arsenal need a striker. Even though Welbeck and Giroud are decent, they are not in the same league as Jamie Vardy or Harry Kane (who next to Ramsey also scored one of the best goals of the season). It makes a lot of sense that the teams who have the best scorers finish on top. Wenger needs to either sign a striker or turn one of his players into a 20+ goal scorer.
