Torreira Gives Definitive Answer As To Whether He’ll Be Leaving Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira says he has not considered leaving the Gunners, despite speculation linking him with a return to Italy.

The Uruguayan’s agent has consistently said that the 24-year-old would be open to making the switch back to Serie A in the future, but the player has stated that he is not contemplating leaving the Emirates:

“Today my intention and my head are at Arsenal. I want to recover, go back to 100%. I have a very long contract with the club, until 2023 and it was very difficult for me to get here.”

Both AC Milan and Napoli have been linked with Torreira in the past, with the midfielder having never really settled in London.

Whether his latest comments will put the transfer rumours to bed, we shall have to wait and see. The player should, however, be fit to play in Arsenal’s remaining fixtures this season.

Torreira injured his ankle in the FA Cup win against Portsmouth in early March but head coach Mikel Arteta will be able to call upon his services when the Premier League resumes later this month. The Gunners face Manchester City in their first match on June 17th.
