Lucas Torreira’s Agent Says He Will “Speak To Arsenal” With Uruguayan Keen On Italy Return

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira’s agent has confirmed that the Uruguayan international is open to moving back to Italy.

There have been consistent rumours that the 24-year-old is unsettled in London, with both Napoli and AC Milan having been linked with the player over the past year.

Now, Pablo Bentancur has said that while Torreira appreciates that the Gunners have helped him through a difficult period due to injury, he will talk to the club about the midfielder’s future. He is quoted by TMW as saying:

“Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered. Then the injury arrived, fortunately, less serious than expected. Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man.”

“I will have to speak to Arsenal. The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

Bentancur doesn’t explicitly state that the Uruguayan will request a transfer but, at the same time, he didn’t come out and say the player is happy at Arsenal and wants to stay.

With the Gunners likely to need funds for their move for Thomas Partey, the sale of Torreira could provide them with the opportunity to build their transfer kitty. However, it remains to be seen which Italian club could afford to sign him.
