Monaco are interested in signing Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to reports in France.
The Gunners rate the 27-year-old at €30m (£27.5m), but the Ligue One side may yet baulk at the London club’s asking price.
Fans on Twitter are, though, excited that Mustafi could be offloaded before the end of the transfer window:
This excites me more than signing Pépé

This is like a new signing to our defence. Bring in a CB & the lad from Celtic & this has been the best transfer window since I can remember

Although the transfer deadline in England is August 8th, the window in France closes at the end of August so there is some time for negotiations to take place.
Mustafi has struggled since arriving from Valencia for £35m three years ago, and reports have suggested that Arsenal have been trying to get the defender off the club’s books for a while.
It would be seen as a big achievement if the Gunners manage to recoup most of the money they spent on the German international.
If it could be done before August 8th, they could even use the money to spend on a replacement, but a lot would need to happen in the next nine days.
