Mustafi Speaks Out On Whether He’ll Be At Arsenal Next Season

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has given the clearest indication yet that he’ll be staying with the Gunners next season.

The German has been linked with a return to Italy, with AC Milan said to be keen to recruit the centre-back this summer.

Mustafi has, however, been quick to dampen speculation by stating he doesn’t believe the transfer talk is genuine:

“It is odd that there are always transfer speculation. I am an Arsenal player and have a contract until 2021.”

The rumour mill has already thrown up a number of centre-backs that Arsenal are said to be interested in.

The likes of Roma’s Kostas Manolas, Espanyol’s Mario Hermoso, Saint Etienne’s William Saliba and Barcelona’s Samuel Umititi have all been mentioned as possible targets.

If a centre-half does arrive over the next few months, Mustafi would be the favourite to leave the London club.

The 27-year-old has played 40 games this season, but manager Unai Emery has opted to bench the defender in three of the last four games in the Gunners’ run to the Europa League final.
