Arsenal legend Thierry Henry claims that Gabriel Jesus‘s “winning mentality” has been just as important as his goals and performances since arriving at the Emirates in the summer.

Henry believes that the Brazilian international has given the Gunners something different in terms of the way they approach matches:

“I am not always talking about the goals or what you do. Sometimes a player has an impact on what he does and what he brings, for example, Gabriel Jesus. I am bringing Arsenal into this. You can see what he’s bringing to the team. That winning mentality.”

Jesus won four Premier League titles, four League Cups and one FA Cup before making the £45m move to Arsenal, and having someone who has been there and done it can be very important in a dressing room where they haven’t had the same level of success.

Of course, Mikel Arteta’s side have lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield in recent years, but those were one-off achievements. Sustaining good league form is founded upon a strong mentality where motivation drives players to put in consistent performances.

In his first few months at the club, Jesus has led by example in terms of putting in excellent displays, week in and week out, and it will inspire his less experienced teammates to follow suit.
